Sikar is a Historical City and at present district head quarter. Sikar district presents a good many facts for the tourists. Sikar is as much part of Shekhawati as Jhunjhunu. It was the biggest Thikana (Estate) of the Jaipur State. It lie on the highway 11 in the midway on route Bikaner to Agra . It is 116 Km away from the Jaipur, 320Km from Jodhpur 240 Km from Bikaner and 301 Km. from Delhi. Sikar was the capital town of the Tikana Sikar.
It is escorted all around by the highwalls comprising of seven gates. The primitive name of Sikar was ‘Beer Bhan Ka Bass’. In order of mitigate the enmity on account of the murder of Daulat Singh’s father Jaswant Singh , Bahadur Singh the raja of Khandela gifted the village to Daulat Singh . He laid down the foundation stone of the fort on the raised ground of this village. Lateron his son Shiv Singh who was very strong ,clever, courageous and bold made a magnificent fort on it. Shiv Singh was the most prominent Rao Raja of Sikar. He developed the village into a beautiful town. It is surrounded by a strong boundary wall . He was a religious man.
Sikar District is has an area of 7742 km², and a population of 2,287,788 (2001 census). It is bounded on the north by Jhunjhunu District, on the northeast by Haryana state, on the east and southeast by Jaipur District, on the southwest by Nagaur District, and on the west and northwest by Churu District. Sikar and Jhunjhunu districts comprise the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. The district is located in the north-eastern part of the state. It is bound in the north by Jhunjhunun District, in the north-west by Churu district, in the south-west by Nagaur district and in the south-east by Jaipur district. It also touches Mehandergarh district of Haryana on it's north-east corner. Sikar is a town in the state of Rajasthan in India.
It is the administrative headquarters of Sikar District. Sikar is situated midway between Bikaner and Agra on National High way number 11. Sikar is located in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan. The private name of Sikar was "Beer Bhan Ka Bass". The fresco paintings on grand havelis of Sikar are peculiarity of Shekhawati. Khatushyamji is the nearby village where the temple of Shyam Baba is situated. Thousands of the devotees come from all over India in its annual fair.

Khatu Shyamji: Khatu Shyamji is a village situated in the Danta Ramgarh tehsil of Sikar district. It is 16 kms. From Reengus and 25kms. From Danta Ramgarh.Khatu is famous for its Shyamji (Krishna) temple and has hence got the name Khatu Shyamji.

SIKRAI MATA: Sikraimata is one of the prominent pilgrim centers of Shekhawati. The place is famous for a beautiful and sacred temple of Sikraimata. Built in the 7th or 8th century and surrounded by hills on three sides, the location is an ideal tourist spot.
JEEN MATA: Jeen Mata is another famous pilgrim center of this region. This place is 29 kms. From Sikar off the Bikaner - Jaipur National Highway. Jeen and Harsha are mentioned as sister and brother in the folk literature and stories of their mutual affection and affection and sacrifice are very popular in the Shekhawati region. Lakh of devotees congregate here every year in April- May (Chaitra Navaratra) during the Jeen Mata fair.
LOHARGAL: Lohargal is also a place of tourist interest because of its natural beauty. This place is associated with Bhim, one of the heroes of the great epic, 'Mahabharat'.
HARSHA: Harsha is an ancient village at the base of a hill on which Harshanatha and other temples are located in Sikar district situated around 14 kms, from Sikar town.
